THE SMALL TOWN DIFFERENCE
Active-based physiotherapy and massage therapy in Midland designed to keep small towns moving.
OUR STORY
Small Town Wellness was built to close a gap in healthcare.
Too often, people finish physiotherapy when the pain decreases, but they’re not fully ready to return to sport, demanding work or the activities that matter most to them. They’re left wondering what comes next.
After years of working in private practice clinics and completing advanced sports training at Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic, Kyle O’Donnell saw this gap firsthand. Patients would improve, but the bridge between rehabilitation and real-world performance was missing.
Small Town Wellness was created to build that bridge.
Rooted in Midland and serving the broader Simcoe County community, the clinic was designed around an active, movement-based approach to physiotherapy. Instead of stopping at symptom relief, treatment progresses toward strength, resilience and long-term durability.
With a fully equipped training gym integrated into the clinic, recovery doesn’t end at the treatment table. It evolves — from early rehab to progressive strength work, helping people return to hockey, running, work, golf, or simply keeping up with their kids.
Small Town Wellness exists to provide physiotherapy in Midland that stays personal, stays progressive, and keeps small towns moving.

FAQs
-
No. You do not need a doctor’s referral to book physiotherapy at Small Town Wellness. You can schedule an appointment directly. Some extended health benefit plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so we recommend checking with your provider.
-
Yes, most insurance plans cover it, but the coverage varies. Please check with your insurance provider to understand your maximums and coverage availability.
-
At Small Town Wellness, your therapist will greet you (or you may wait in the front lobby if they are busy with another patient) and lead you into a private treatment room. Please wear or bring comfortable attire so your therapist can assess your issue. If you forget, it's not a problem, as we have shirts, shorts and anything necessary for you to borrow as well. Your assessment will begin with a discussion of your issue to help identify the problem. From there an objective assessment will take place to measure your range of motion, strength, special tests and functional movements. You will receive treatment and a plan for both short term and long term management, including the best way to manage your issue outside the clinic and between appointments.
-
Appointment lengths vary by practitioner but are listed in the Jane App for booking and average 30-60 minutes.
-
Wear (or bring) clothes you feel comfortable moving in and that allow the practitioner to view the area if necessary. If you forgot don't worry. We have a variety of shorts, t-shirts and tank tops available if you forgot.
-
We provide longer treatment times (30 minutes vs 20 minutes) and are building our approach specifically for active, motivated individuals who require and demand more from themselves and their therapists. Improving your symptoms is great but we bridge the gap between therapy and a full, confident return to life's demands.
-
The short answer is no. However, at Small Town Wellness we don't want to stop at feeling better; we want to ensure you return to your sport, activity or work as well. Your practitioner will help guide you, but a progressive exercise loading plan to reduce re-injury and allow progression can be highly beneficial.
